he Houston County Arts Council, Incorporated (HCAC) is a 501(c) 3) non-profit corporation and was formed in 2006 with the purpose of providing quality theatre, music, art, dance, etc. experiences for the Houston County area. HCAC is fully staffed by local volunteers. While our volunteers and supporters are from all ethnic backgrounds, ages and careers, they are united by the love of the arts and a passion for providing uplifting cultural experiences for the Houston County area. Houston County Arts Council, Inc. was created to develop, expand and promote community interest and appreciation of the arts including theatre, music and, dance performance and instruction as well as visual arts display and instruction. HCAC will reach out to neighboring communities that are underserved in the area of fine arts through providing low cost or no cost exhibits and performances in neighboring communities.
January 2018 Warm greetings from the Houston County Arts Council! This past year was a good year for the HCAC. Throughout the year we: *Sponsored the Nashville Irish Trio concert as part of the Irish Celebration in March *Sponsored weekly Zumba classes at HCHS under the direction of Keli A. Rutherford *Sponsored the Houston County Youth Chorus concert Let’s Rock in May *Met with local civic organizations to stress the importance of the arts communities *Sponsored our fifth annual Sweet Tea and Southern Art show featuring local artists in August with a sponsors-only reception preceding the event *Contributed to the HCHS Band for purchase of new instruments *Contributed to the Fine Arts Department at HCHS for purchase of needed art supplies *Sponsored Shawn Knight in a one-man show Irving Berlin
In the coming year we plan to: *Sponsor The Nashville Irish Trio (a Celtic group playing fiddle, pipes, and guitar) in concert, Tuesday, March 13, 7:00 PM, Erin United Methodist Church, as part of the Irish Celebration *Sponsor Zumba classes with Keli Rutherford at HCHS *Sponsor the sixth annual Sweet Tea and Southern Art show in August at Shamrocks and Shenanigans on the square in Erin *Co-sponsor the 2018 Creative Hands and Creative Minds Contest which is open to all students in Houston County *Sponsor Shawn Knight in another one-man show *Continue our support of the HCHS Band program and the HCHS Fine Arts program *Sponsor Curt Fields in one-man show as General Ulysses Grant *Identify a choral director for the Houston County Youth Chorus *Sponsor a Nashville Ballet performance for young people in Houston County We depend almost totally on the generosity of individuals like you who share our vision for the promotion of the arts in Houston County.
